Vinyl Siding

Vinyl is a form of plastic and is not as durable as aluminum, wood or brick. Depending on temperature, sun exposure, and age siding can become brittle and easily damaged. I have been using a weed whip since I was 13 years old and no one is more careful than me when using them. Yet when weed whipping my own garage years ago I made a small hole in the siding by just whipping the grass close to it. I asked siding suppliers and installers why they don't have a more durable bottom layer of siding stronger, thicker and more resistant to damage. The honest answer I got was they're all aware of this and nothing is done because everyone likes the extra sales and business. The proper way to prevent damage is to either not weed whip by plastic siding, or put a more solid barrier next to the bottom layer like bricks, aluminum or wood. Many customers tell us another option is to spray grass killer next to those areas so they won't be touched. Customers need to be made aware of the delicate nature of plastic siding and that we are not responsible for siding damage.
